The subwoofer specialist Velodyne Acoustics has reason to celebrate this year with a special award. The extremely compact MicroVee X model has won the coveted ROAST Award 2022/23, presented by AreaDVD, AV-Magazin, Lite-Magazin, and MODERNHIFI. With this, the editorial teams jointly honor home cinema, hi-fi, and consumer electronics products that are particularly powerful, high-quality, or innovative.
ROAST Award: Coveted Distinction for the MicroVee X
ROAST stands for Reviewers Online Association for Smart Technologies, an award ceremony honoring consumer electronics from the past year. During this period, alongside the MicroVee X, more than 400 products faced the critical eyes and ears of the test editorial teams. The jury members from areadvd.de, av-magazin.de, lite-magazin.de, and modernhifi.de consult in regular meetings and exchange experiences and opinions about the respective devices to ultimately make a nomination. Each editorial team has voting rights, and in the final vote of the respective editors-in-chief, the best of the year are then chosen. Exceptional sound or image quality, user-friendliness, price-performance ratio, or innovations for the industry are given special consideration.
Powerful and Compact: the MicroVee X
With the MicroVee X subwoofer, Velodyne Acoustics sets standards for the best possible bass performance in compact housing dimensions. The 6.5-inch driver of the subwoofer has been completely redesigned, and the Class A/B amplifier draws its 300 watts RMS and 800 watts peak power from four massive 180-volt MOSFET transistors with 34 ampere current delivery capability. Together with a latest-generation DSP, the well-known low-vibration aluminum housing, and two passive radiators, these technologies enable precise bass reproduction down to 32 Hertz from a housing with only 23 by 25 centimeters of floor space. With special equalizer and limiter settings, the subwoofer also offers the best acoustic properties. Polarity, volume, and activity of the internal crossover can be conveniently controlled from the listening position via the included remote control.
