For fans of expressive yet precise low frequencies, there’s now more news from the bass cellar: The VI-Q series is available from dealers starting in May and shines with all kinds of technical finesse: The sealed subwoofers showcase everything that distinguishes the manufacturer’s low-frequency drivers with powerful Class D amplification, highly efficient switch-mode power supplies, and ultra-light carbon fiber membranes. Additionally, the three models feature XLR connections and a particularly high-quality driver configuration. The iWoofer™ app for the subwoofer also offers many room adjustment options, a 25-band parametric equalizer, and practical presets.
VI-Q: Intelligent Playback for the Bass Cellar
The VI-Q series with sealed enclosure, lightweight carbon fiber membrane, and 3-inch voice coil impresses with low distortion values and excellent impulse response. With great attention to detail, the woofers have been optimized to claim the bass cellar in music or home theater setups with uncompromising, precise performance. With three available sizes from 10 inches to 12 inches to 15 inches, there’s the right subwoofer for every application. This ensures that both a compact system in the living room and a full-fledged home theater always enjoy the appropriate portion of low frequencies. As with the Deep Waves series, VI-Q focuses not only on pure power but also on practical operation. For this purpose, the developers have placed a 5V USB port that ensures power supply for the upcoming V-Connect system for wireless connection. This allows the subwoofers to be placed extremely flexibly in the room. A trigger input for the auto-on function and a pairing button for the app also facilitate operation. On the rear, professional XLR connectors, RCA input jacks for the left and right channels, and speaker terminals ensure the best connectivity.
Powerful Multi-Talent with Numerous Connections
Especially the particularly powerful 15-inch model can boast a maximum sound pressure level of up to 120 dB and delivers an impressive 650 watts RMS or 1200 watts maximum with its precisely tuned Class D amplification. This woofer naturally places the highest demands on the power supply: A highly efficient switch-mode power supply with 2 x 25 A / 650 V MOSFET ensures the consistently high performance of the largest VI-Q model. But even the 10-inch device with 450 watts RMS (850 watts max.) and the 12-inch subwoofer with 500 watts RMS (900 watts max.) enhance living rooms or home theaters with technical top performance and timeless industrial design. To ensure that the power is converted into low frequencies in the usual precise manner, the enclosures must also be precisely tuned: The massive front is therefore made of a 21-layer multiplex board with a material thickness of 50 millimeters to achieve particularly low distortion values. In addition, the stylish driver cover sits firmly and without magnetic mounting so that the removable part stays in place even at high levels.
Convenient Control with the App
Automatic room correction has long been an important component of Velodyne Acoustics’ flagship subwoofers. Over the years, this important feature has also become more common in more affordable subwoofers. With the iWoofer™ app for room adjustment including a 25-band parametric equalizer, the VI-Q series models now offer users full control. The software allows intuitive control of numerous DSP functions: crossover frequency, phase adjustment, and various presets can be quickly and easily adjusted. The Pro version even adds more functions and precise, automatic room correction.
