New Drivers with Double Magnet and Quadruple Voice Coil

The subwoofers DB-10 and DB-12 from Velodyne were specially developed to ensure impressive deep bass performance despite their compact and beautifully shaped cabinet. A key element for this is a potent chassis that is capable of handling even large membrane excursions with maximum precision. The forward-firing 10- and 12-inch drivers of the two new Velodyne models therefore feature elaborate quadruple voice coils that operate in oversized double magnets. This ensures that energy flow and control remain constant – even at strong membrane deflections and lowest frequencies.

Small Cabinets, Big Sound

Even though the cabinets of the DB-10 and DB-12 subwoofers radiate compact and simple elegance, their construction testifies to the high expertise of their developers. The generously dimensioned MDF material has been elaborately braced on the inside to effectively suppress resonances. Thus, the cabinets themselves do not appear acoustically and provide ideal working conditions for the drivers. Solid rubber feet ensure stable positioning even during thrilling action movies at cinema volume.

Advanced Electronics

The DB-10 and DB-12 models from Velodyne Acoustics draw their power from carefully developed long-throw chassis and massive cabinets. Nevertheless, corresponding electronics are no less important for a modern subwoofer. The amplifiers deliver a powerful 350 watts RMS and 850 watts peak power, making them well-equipped even for dynamic techno tracks and impressive blockbuster movies. For connection, RCA input jacks for left and right channels are available, as well as a dedicated subwoofer input with pass-through option, so that the new Deep Blue bass drivers from Velodyne can be operated either as an extension for smaller satellite speakers or as an LFE channel in a surround setup. Crossover frequency, phase, and volume are continuously adjustable to match the existing system.
