The Deep Waves series recently celebrated its premiere at Integrated Systems Europe in Barcelona. Now, these affordable, compact subwoofers in 10 and 12-inch sizes are already available in specialty stores. The bass specialists at Velodyne Acoustics also use voice coils with four-layer windings and a double ferrite magnet in this model series. This allows for large membrane excursions while maintaining precise bass reproduction. The absolute highlight of the new subwoofers is the app control, which allows users to conveniently find their favorite settings from their listening position.

Living Room-Friendly Subwoofer for Captivating Performance

With 10 and 12-inch sizes, both Deep Waves models seamlessly integrate into any living space while still delivering the powerful bass precision that Velodyne Acoustics subwoofers are known for. For this, the bass specialists rely on a design already familiar from the almost tiny bass wonder MicroVee X, which ensures the best possible performance, especially in compact devices. A forward-firing driver combined with two side-firing passive radiators gives fast-paced action movies and impressive concerts the necessary punch from the lowest frequencies. To ensure that the performance is precise and free of disturbing resonances, the high-quality MDF cabinet is multiply braced and solidly constructed throughout. With its matte black finish, the subwoofer causes almost no visible optical reflections in the home theater.

For Velodyne Acoustics, automatic room correction has been an important feature for many years to optimally adapt subwoofers to the given conditions. This is the only way a home theater or two-channel system will benefit from the best possible precision. With the iWoofer™ app, users now have a completely new way to optimally harmonize the stylish subwoofers with the room and their individual listening preferences. The software for Android or iOS smartphones allows intuitive control of numerous DSP functions: crossover frequency, parametric EQs, phase adjustment, and various presets are always just a fingertip away. The Pro version even adds more functions and precise, automatic room correction.

High-quality Components, Captivating Deep Bass

For over 40 years, Velodyne Acoustics has stood for the highest bass precision, and the new Deep Waves series proves once again that this can be achieved with relatively compact enclosures – provided you have the necessary know-how and experience. Newly developed drivers, perfectly tuned DSP processors, and powerful amplifiers ensure powerful, ultra-deep, and at the same time highly precise bass reproduction. With 350 watts RMS power or 600 watts maximum power for the 10-inch model and 400 watts RMS power / 800 watts maximum for the 12-inch subwoofer, the Class-D amplification of the Deep Waves series is ready for movies and music with breathtaking deep bass.

A 2.5-inch voice coil with four-layer winding, together with a nitrile rubber surround, enables high and extremely precise excursion. The cone is made of a particularly light, coated paper composite material, which avoids partial vibrations and distortions even at larger excursions. Thanks to very good connectivity, the application possibilities of the two subwoofers are almost unlimited: The RCA connections for the left and right channels and the LFE input allow for easy installation. In addition, speaker terminals are available to connect amplifiers or AV receivers without a suitable RCA output. The parallel wiring of subwoofer and main speakers with the high-level input is preferred by many high-end enthusiasts and has a long tradition with Velodyne Acoustics.

Prices and General Information

The Deep Waves series will be available from authorized dealers starting in March. The suggested retail price is 1,699.00 euros for the 10-inch model and 1,899.00 euros for the 12-inch subwoofer.
