At the High End in Munich, Velodyne Acoustics is showcasing the current VI-Q and Deep Waves subwoofer series as well as the new in-wall devices. A highlight at the exhibition stand are the Ultra Feet VA Edition stands, developed in collaboration with Bassocontinuo and celebrating their premiere at the show. This optional accessory is particularly robust, made of stainless steel, and comes with numerous thread adapters – ensuring optimal decoupling for many subwoofers. Those who don’t want to miss Velodyne Acoustics’ and Audio Reference’s world of bass and HiFi should mark rooms C112 and D111 in Atrium 3.1 on their schedules.
High-Quality Decoupling: Velodyne Acoustics Ultra Feet by Bassocontinuo
For over 40 years, Velodyne Acoustics has specialized in powerful, precise subwoofers. To perfect bass reproduction, even the smallest details and appropriate accessories count. This allows HiFi and home cinema enthusiasts to get the most out of their setups. With the innovative decoupling feet, developed in collaboration with Italian rack manufacturer Bassocontinuo, nothing stands in the way of cleaner, powerful bass reproduction. Even in difficult floor and wall construction conditions, vibrations are optimally avoided and not redirected from the ground to the subwoofer. As a result, the bass becomes clear, defined, and powerful with these elaborately crafted stainless steel feet. The Velodyne Acoustics Ultra Feet VA Edition is available in a set of four decoupling feet. To ensure that as many subwoofers as possible can benefit from this high-quality accessory, the most common thread sizes M6, M8, M10, and additionally available 1/4″-20 UNC are included directly. Other threads are available upon request. Additionally, a lock nut is supplied for each foot to precisely compensate for any height differences on the floor.
VI-Q and Deep Waves: Powerful Subwoofer Series with App Control
At High End, Velodyne Acoustics also showcases its current top-of-the-line subwoofer duo with app control. The 10-inch and 12-inch subwoofers of the Deep Waves series feature a front-firing driver along with two side-firing passive radiators for precise bass. With 350 watts RMS power and 600 watts peak power for the 10-inch model, and 400 watts RMS power / 800 watts peak for the 12-inch subwoofer, the Class-D amplification and 2.5-inch voice coil with four-layer winding are ready for powerful, precise bass reproduction.
The subwoofers of the VI-Q series, on the other hand, work with a sealed enclosure and ultra-light carbon fiber membranes to create a powerful bass foundation with Class-D amplification and highly efficient switching power supplies. The 15-inch model can deliver a maximum sound pressure of up to 120 dB and provides 650 watts RMS or 1200 watts peak power. The enormous power also necessitates careful cabinet design. The massive front is therefore made from a 21-layer multiplex board with a material thickness of 50 millimeters to guarantee low distortion values. The subwoofer can be easily integrated into the speaker system via RCA input jacks for the LFE channel and speaker terminals. The VI-Q series additionally offers XLR connections. With the iWoofer™ app, users are optimally supported in adjusting the subwoofer to the room and individual listening preferences.
In-Wall Subwoofer and Exciting Prototypes
At High End, the IW-600 X, successor to Velodyne Acoustics’ best-selling installation speaker, is showcased, utilizing two 6.5-inch drivers, proven passive membrane technology, and lightweight carbon fiber membranes for its powerful bass reproduction. The larger brother IW-800 with two 8-inch drivers and the amplifiers SC 1500 and 750 are also at the stand. The visible front of both subwoofers can be concealed with a magnetic driver cover and has been revised once again for the latest iteration. With the V-Connect system, the prototype for wireless connection of Velodyne Acoustics subwoofers is also on display at the exhibition stand for the first time.
